Veterans

Veterans may have unique medical, social, spiritual and emotional needs. Our care focuses on understanding and helping each veteran meet his or her personal goals by providing a variety of choices. This care is delivered by an interdisciplinary team to ensure we honor the veterans’ needs and wishes.

Support for Families

We recognize the many sacrifices made by families of veterans. Our care teams provide families with emotional and spiritual support, help with decision-making and connection to resources.

Veterans Serving Veterans Volunteers

Trained veteran volunteers bring their military experiences to their hospice work. Through a shared common language and cultural bond, veteran volunteers provide a great deal of support to veteran patients and their families.

Military Service Recognition Ceremonies

We acknowledge the service of veterans in our care by presenting personalized Minnesota Hospice certificates and a flag pin to each one.

We Honor Veterans Program

Minnesota Hospice is a partner of the We Honor Veterans (WHV) program. We Honor Veterans is a National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) initiative in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). We are committed to WHV’s mission of respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgment of the veterans we serve. By partnering with the VA, veteran service organizations and other community partners, we are able to provide an array of specialized programs and services that honor and support our veterans.

Hospice – Affirms life, but never denies death. Recognizes dying as a normal process of life. Honors wishes. Offers choices. Brings commitment and compassion. Strengthens families. Is about faith, hope and caring.

“People die, but love does not die.
It is recycled from one heart,
from one life, to another.”
